More about my roles

I started my editing career as a social media coordinator for The University of Kentucky’s undergraduate literary journal, Shale. There, I understood that working on journals and fostering the literary community was meaningful work.

I transferred to The University of Louisville, where I became intensely involved with their literary journal, Miracle Monocle. At Miracle Monocle, I edited Creative Nonfiction, Poetry, and Fiction, and the faculty advisor provided me with a holistic editing foundation.

I took that editing foundation to The University of New Mexico, where I edited the graduate literary journal, Blue Mesa Review, and the core composition textbook, Elevations.

At Blue Mesa Review, I started (like all incoming students do) as a reader/evaluator, worked my way up to Fiction Editor, then eventually became an Editor in Chief, where my accomplishments include publishing two online issues and a limited print anthology.

As an instructor at The University of New Mexico, I taught Composition I, Composition II, Creative Writing, and Expository Writing. I also designed and taught a course on Narrative Design in Video Games.

After The University of New Mexico, I took an internship at Dzanc Books—an independent publisher—and honed my skills through weekly readings, exercises, and meetings. I copy edited under the Editor in Chief and learned industry standards.

After I finished my internship at Dzanc Books, I continued to copy edit for them, and now I am looking to expand my portfolio.

I have bolstered my knowledge with courses such as Advanced Grammar, Technical Copy Editing, Logic, and Cultural Linguistics.
